We are currently lucky that Food Packages sell very well, thanks to players with retail stores who offer a very fair price at $25/food, or today even at $25.1/food.
What do you mean raise the baseline price? All prices you see on the exchange, bar from currencies, are set by other players. There are no non-player resource or item trades as far as I'm aware.
Why should food packages need to be worth less? That's your profit!
It would be more beneficial if all resource companies produced more of everything. Resource costs would go down and thus profit margins on retail items would increase.

I mean because we'd be making less profit, people would be forced to lower their worker wages.
I have a question, wouldn't lowering the wages also mean that everyone has to fire their current workers? Becuause if the already employed players would still get like 60$, then the problem would remain, right?

No I don't think so, I think it's only a problem if there are available jobs that offer high wages
