Hmm.. land is the only way to invest currently - I don't know where else to put money in (and it's a 'moneygame' after all).

If everyone had free access to land it would become worthless, so it only makes sense to be hard to get as it's the only 'limited' asset in the game currently. And I'm always ready to sell at the right price - however it turns out that land is worth more to me than most I guess.

Anyway - with the recent changes to both land tax and building costs, there are only very few people who can even afford to use land, let alone purchase it (most of them will already own land). So I don't think there would be anyone I could even sell to if I wanted to.

Right now you're investing in a loss of around $100k daily for diamond handing empty land

Im curious how much you value land? In the current economy of the game, there's around $57kk, there's 160 land, would it be fair to say $57kk/160 land -> 1 land = 350-360k?

Nobody should have free access to land of course, but any player should have some ability to access limited resources, without it depending on just 1 person. Because you are holding the majority of those resources, a whole community can't advance with their own business ventures.
In a more mature game with a larger community, where resources are spread out more, this issue would solve itself over time, but that’s still a hurdle MoneyGame needs to overcome.

At the moment, you are at best in a stalemate with yourself, and at worst burning 10's of thousands a day in taxes, just to hold on to your stance.

I would love your insights on what your plans are

Not a bad estimate, that would indeed be the bare minimum value for land to me.
As I mentioned, land is currently the only 'limited' asset, everything else is unlimited (even cash), and as there is a lot of demand for land, it is worth more than cash.
On top of your estimate I would normally put a decent premium as most pieces of land are not frequently traded.

The taxes / construction costs are not that much of an issue if you take that into account. So if I end up spending ~300K per piece of land over the next year, that would be less than the loss I would take if I sold the land for less than it's value.

(And there is also nothing else I can spend cash on).

Did you guys read @XDCD's post above? He's willing to spend $300k+ yearly (per land!) to hold that land, why would he sell it for $100k lol
also he made it sorta clear his minimum price would be around $400k
you probably have a better chance negotiating some land now before those tax costs get calculated in the purchase price hehe
