When your already suspected for lying, you want to show your honest. lying gives a bad reputation and just feels.... wrong?
Furthermore, if your lie could allow you to launder suspected money, it adds evidence against your innocence. Like if I was suspected of robbing a bank and I drove around in an unmarked vehicle and a huge bag with money written on it.
So I don't lie. Its simpler and overall better for the comunity.
